    Java Applets do not run
    Here's my problem(s):

When using Quicken 2008 rev. 9:

I try to talk to my bank to download information. It fails and I get an error message back saying that Java is not enabled.

    Windows XP, Professional SP3:

I checked under IE > Tools> Internet Options > Manage Add Ons - and find Java is enabled. I did a complete D/L of Java from Java.Com and reinstalled the app. No change.

I am running McAfee security and their Firewall. I checked with them and they say they do not block Windows Scripts.

Other, possibly related symptoms/issues. I notice that I no longer get Java Updates nor does Windows Auto Update seem to work.
    Please help.

Here is a useful app that will check java as well as other commonly installed software for version update - Freeware and very small file
    FileHippo.com Update Checker - FileHippo.com

    With your update issue

Click start, run and type regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
    And then Enter

    Now

-Click on start, run and type services.msc

-Go down list and go to automatic updates and right click then properties
-Make sure that it is set to Automatic, if not change it to automatic, click Apply then slick Start and the OK

-Under Automatic Updates is Backround Intelligent Transfer and right click and properties and make sure it is set to Manual

Close services and try to windows update

    Seahawk,

That got me to where I was able to correct the Auto Update Services. The cause was that the Auto Update Services had been "Stopped." All I had to do was restart the services.

I also checked the Java Services while I was in the area, and they were set at "Start" so no correction was necessary, however, they are still failing to run.

Were you able to use it before without problem or first time trying.

Give this a try to see if these settings exists

Below will make sense when you get to where you are going

    Select Internet Options.

    Click the Security tab.

[B]IE Click the "Custom Level" button.

Click Settings, and scroll down the Security Settings window until you find "Active scriptlets." Make sure that either "Enable" or "Prompt" is selected.

Go through other settings there an make appropriate changes as you see fit for your situation

Click OK again to close the Internet Options dialog box, saving your selections.

After you click Apply to save your changes in the Settings window, be sure that you keep the "Custom" option selected when you click OK in the Security window.

    Hope this gets it going
