    Nonrefundable Pet Deposit?
I have a rental property in California and was wondering about making pet deposits non refundable, or is that against the law?

This has been posted before in different States. As long as the landlord and tenant agree it is perfectly legal but I would make certain that the tenant understands it is not refundable under any circumstances - if that is your intention.

I charge a "pet deposit" which is nonrefundable and which covers the cost of carpet cleaning if/when the tenant moves.
