Money matters in a live in relationship (not married)
My boyfreind and I have been living together for 6 years and his only contribution is a bit of groceries and the electricity bill every month - we are both divorced. I feel that as we are living in my house and I pay a huge bond he should at least contribute by means of a monthly "rental" - he pays his ex wife maitenance and has one child of 17. He says he cannot afford to pay me rent and I am feeling very resentful - am I being petty?

This should have been something that was agreed upon, as he will have to pay rent where ever he goes. If he can't he has to go.

Don't be resentful, have a talk with him and tell him your needs, and deal with his reaction.

I think it is important that you have a good talk and perhaps re-adjust and help with his spendings and so he can make some contribution- I don't think it is fair if you paid for everthing- eventually you will get peeved and resentful and not appreciated. YOur partner in turn will just get used to you paying and could just end up taking you for granted- so its best to talk before such a situation arises
