    Ohio laws regulating armed guards
I am currently a contract armed guard licensed through a security service( my current employer) a private business wishes to hire me to perform the same duties but under their employment (to give them more control) under Ohio regs, do I have to be licensed, and/or does the company have to be licensed?

Licensed to do what? To work armed?

Do you have an individual license to carry a firearm?

I would contact the agency which licenses firearms in Ohio to and make sure of the rules, also your liability insurance company before I'd negotiate with the new employer. They are able to tell you exactly what the regulations are.

Please read the information on how to use this site - Ask Me Help Desk - FAQ: Terms of Service, FAQ and How To Use This Site. The fact that you can't understand the answer doesn't make it wrong.

And actually I DO know the answer. I have a carry permit. I just don't understand the circumstances or what you are asking and I'm not going to list five scenarios so you can pick the one that applies to your situation.

And please don't shout on the board - which is what typing in caps is.

Judy is correct. I live in Ohio and before you get that other job you should fully check out what she said to check out. This way your behind is not flapping in the wind getting rained on or sued.

You will have to have and be licensed in Ohio to work as a armed guard.
If the company hiring you wishes to license you, or if you wish to become licensed.

That is why so many business hire off duty police officers. The store still takes a large liablity hiring you as unarmed security but many stores do that, sears, Penny and others all use their own security people. But the rules all change when you wish to be armed.

But even now, you should have to have a speical security permit to work as a armed guard in the state.
In GA they call it a blue card.

There is a state agency that licenses security persons, they should be your first call.
