Okay, well, you will be taken into an exam room and asked to undress, you will be given a gown to wear that opens to the front.
One of the first things the doc may do is examine your breasts for any lumps. Then he/she will move down to your nether regions. He/She will insert a device called a speclum, it opens your vaginal canal so that he/she can see your cervix. This is not really painful, but may be uncomfortable. A swab (like a Q-tip) will be used to take samples of your cervix. This is not really painful as your cervix has very few nerve endings.
After that, the speculum will be removed and the doctor will insert his fingers to find your uterus and ovaries. Again, this should not be painful, but may be uncomfortable. When this is done, you sit up and it's all over.
