    Frozen outdoor drain
We have water treatment equipment that used to flush themselves regular into our septic tank. A plumber got the bright idea to flush them into our sump/basement drain which leads outside & alongside the house. It is not buried. The pipe slopes down about 12 feet & empties onto the ground. The idea was to save stress on the septic tank. We woke up to a geyser last night coming up out of the sump pump in the equipment room as our water equipment was flushing. It appears the pipe from the sump has snapped. We can only assume that the drain pipe outside has fozen & is blocked. Have you a quick solution or should we call a plumber to redirect the flush water back in to our septic?

It's not a good idea to overload your septic system by draining anything but sewage and gray water to it. I would look into installing a dry well,(see images) to recvieve the run off from, the sump pump, AC condensate, Rainwater runoff and water softener discharge. This keeps it under ground hopefully under the frost line. Good luck and thank you for rating my answer. Tom

Hi: We have an outdoor shower in Long Beach Island, NJ, that we have owned for about 12 years. Over the years, the water seems to be draining out of the shower less and less. After just one shower, there is a pool of water. The shower has a wood slat bottom that just drains into the ground. ...
