Is this normal, or am I overreacting?
Hey everyone. I recently posted a question asking about my symptoms, thinking that I was pregnant. I had a miscarriage on Valentines day '08, and shortly after that found out I was pregnant again (in April). Well needless to say, that one also ended in miscarriage in June when I was 11 weeks along. Now here is my question: I am pregnant again! 8 weeks yesterday. And it seems like history is repeating itself, as I got pregnant in November of '07, which ended in miscarriage on Valentines day, and here I am, pregnant again as of November '08. But the weird thing is that I had my period in December. But I went to the gyno for my womanly checkup and she told me I was about 6 weeks pregnant. SO Im wondering if that is normal? I have heard of women having their periods and being pregnant. I thought something was up about a week prior to having my period, as all my "supposed" PMS symptoms were magnified x3. Such as my breast were so sore I actually cried a couple of times, and I threw up everyday for a week, and all this was before my period came on. I was sure I was pregnant, but then my period came on, so I figured I wasn't. Then come find out I was. So is this normal? How many of you other woman have experienced this? Any help would be great!

While you won't technically have a period when pregnant, there are a number of reasons someone might have bleeding in early pregnancy, or even throughout pregnancy. Usually there will be no bleeding and when there is it should be checked out by your doctor or midwife.
Most often it is due to hormone changes or functioning of the placenta. Many times it is not a concern, pregnancy progresses without incident, baby is born just fine... but of course you often don't know this and, with a history of miscarriage, you would want to be more prudent with seeing your doctor.

The body is a very strange and interesting thing... The perio and symptoms is normal... I am currently pregnant and I did not realize it until I was 6 weeks, but for 2 entire weeks I had the symptoms and that is why I had never even thought I was pregnant... Yet I had pregnancy symptoms too... So it is normal, of course if you feel something is not you should talk to your doctor... but keep getting rest and good luck with this pregnancy :D
