    1999 Chevy Cavalier Computer Installation
    Need guidance on installing the brain box (as the auto salvage yard calls it) in my daughter's '99 Chevy Cavalier.

    . Disconnect negative battery cable, recording any radio codes first.

    . Remove major electrical connector from ECM. There may be a connector bolt securing it. Take a small screwdriver and gently pry the connector off the ECM.

    . Remove both nuts from the ECM mounting studs.

    . Remove old ECM and install new.

    . Spray female connectors with WD-40 and button things up.

    Wear rubber sole shoes and ground yourself before touching the new ECM. Static electricity can easily damage an ECM.
