Does anyone know exactly how to remove alt from 94 Mitsubishi Diamante, 3.0L, SOHC?
Does anyone know exactly how to remove alt from 94 Mitsubishi Diamante, 3.0L, SOHC?

I would really prefer help from someone who has actually replaced one themselves before, because when I read the reposes to other people who have asked the same question on other sites, none of the answers were from hands on experience. The diagrams they send really don't help, I tried them.

Chilton's diagram does not work, even if you remove all the additional parts as they suggest, you can't get it past the rear manifold.

I have the alternator is completely detached, I just can't get it out of the small pocket it is stuck in.
    HELP PLEASE!!

I don't know where to start! There must be trick to getting it out of there.

    Thanks!!

    Thinking Outside the Box:

Like on a 2000 Ford Taurus, with a 3.0L Duratec Engine, replacing the alternator can be challenging. This is where "tricks of the trade" come into play. On Tauruses, you need to place the car on jack stands, remove the right wheel well liner, remove the tie-rod, and go in from there. Alternatively, the subframe can be dropped on the right side. The link below may give you insight for your car:

Another possibility is to make room by removing a cowl, as described below:

. Remove cabin filter cowl, as if you were going to change the cabin filter.

. Here's the trick: Remove inside screws and remove the lower cowl. This may provide room to reach the alternator.

This is how you must think on many applications today. No, I don't have experience with your car, most people won't, since '94 Diamantes are not common cars. This is a time for creativity.

    Yep. Been there. Done that.

    Creativity

Change oil filter car A - remove front wheel.
Change spark plug car B - loosen motor mounts and jack up engine.
Car C - change oil filter - loosen, but drop through wheelwell
Many Chevrolet's (Blower resistor) - Use a 5/32 or 5 mm swivel socket to get one screw out

But watch out for: "Oops, I should not have removed that screw"
