New smartvalve SV9501M 2528 (contact Problems)
My new smartvalve is only 2 month old! It replaces the SV9500M 2674 that had problems with the 4-plug contacts.

With this new one I now have the following problem; the valve will not open. I check the safety switches, voltage at the smartvalve etc.. Everything seems OK!

I then noticed that by moving the smartvalve switch to "off" and then to "on" again the burner comes on!

I can now start the furnace but on the next Thermostat call for heat... I will have to do that again to get the furnace going! I guess I need a new smartvalve!. there not as smart as I thought!:D Anybody with similar experience?

Yes, these li'l bastards are a real headache as well as rather expensive because they incorporate a gas control and ignition control into a single component. The action of moving the switch may be transferring motion to the square connector-where many of these fail. I would still expect this part to be in warranty.

There is - you could drown. Seriously, it could happen - furnace quits, pipes freeze & rupture, thawing leads to flooding... see where this is going? Okay, I'll admit the chances are slim, but you never know... :D
