Does CPVC water supply leading to shut-off valve need to be secured inside wall?
I'm replacing the water supplies pipes to a bath and laundry room with CPVC pipe. The pipes will run inside the wood-studded wall.

Do I need to secure the CPVC pipe in some way inside the wall before the stub comes out to a turn-off valve? If so, what are the best options for securing the pipe?

The cross bracing between the studs to secure a stub out is called backing.
Of course you must secure ALL TYPES of water pipes with pipes straps and backing. If you don't secure the pipes in a wall with pipe straps you will have rattling inside the wall and if the stub outs aren't backed and strapped they can be pulled out of the wall. My advice? Strap and secure ALL installations in the wall. Good luck.

    Thanks, John, that helps.

Are the usual plastic straps, screwed to the backing, sufficient?

When renovating my kitchen, I had a plumber come in and move the supply lines and my drain in the new place for my sink base. Flutter Valve Inside Wall Next To Toilet? [ 3 Answers ]

In my basement bathroom, inside the wall next to the toilet stop valve, there seems to be some kind of flutter valve activated. I can hear air being released as the valve flutters 4-5 times in rapid succession, with about a 2 second pause between these cycles. I can also hear gurgling water as...

Pvc inline water supply shut-off valve replacement [ 1 Answers ]

I have a 1 1/2" (one and one half inch) pvc water supply line that leaks at an inline shut-off valve (1/4 turn type, I assume). I realize I need to shut off the supply upstream to change it out. The valve is in between 2 elbows, about 3' (three feet) apart, so there is 'room to work' to remove the...

Whole house water supply copper to cpvc [ 2 Answers ]

I recently bought a house with a private well . The previous owner never had any type of water treatment or filter system on the water supply. Because of this all the 1/2" copper tube is lined with sediment and sludge restricting the flow to all faucets and outlets. There is already some 3/4" cpvc...
