    Carrier Code #34 - intermittent
    Hi:
    I have a Carrier 800 VS 58CVX070. Installed in 2003
A few weeks back we had a power outage and since then the Furnace has been a little funky.
The main problem is that the trouble is intermittent.
    I keep getting status #34.
Usually it happens late at night so, everything seems fine all day, but when you wake up in the morning there's a good chance it's going to be chilly because you are in the middle of the three hour "lock out" period. Once it wakes back up, there's a good chance it will work.
I've cleaned the heat sensor to no effect.

I paid $45 buck to have the installer come out, he said there was nothing he could do because it's intermittent and said I should buy a new PC board for $450.
That seemed lame to me. He didn't check anything

This morning, however, I really caught it in action.
The ignition element came on red hot, and then the gas started flowing but only one burner lit. The one by the element.
The other two did not light; and that is where the heat sensor is.
While this was happening the status light was blinking #13.
But on the second attempt all the burners lit. So, it went on it's merry way.
What might keep those burners from lighting?
Also, my furnace is on it's side, so the three burners are vertical. The heating element is at the "bottom" and the heat sensor is at the "top".

    Any help is appreciated!

    Update:
I may have read that code wrong earlier.

Just caught it doing the same thing:lighting just one burner the first time and then all three on second attempt. During this process I'm pretty sure it was blinking "34".
The, as soon as it lights, the status light just stays on. (as it should).

The first thing I would do it to clean the burners well, for some reason the flame is not reaching the second and third burner.
I have seen this happen for an instant but never for more than that.

Clean flame sensor, look for cracks, if cracked replace
If that does not work it's the circuit board

Regular maint. Will avoid these mistakes
