    My dog is sick.
My dog got very sick last night and he was bleeding from either his mouth or his butt. I heard him crying in the back yard and let him in and he had his head down and was walking very slow. As he lied down he was very slow about it, keep in mind he's only 3 yrs. Old he drank a lot of water and kept going outside. I watched him and he pooped like 4 times and I checked it to see if there was blood in it but nothing. I found some liquid substance on the kitchen floor that looked like blood but wasn't dark enough. I'm puzzled. This morning I found the same type of substance in the hallway but little drops leading to my sons room. Then I found blood on a small through rug. I've checked him from nose to tail. Nothing. I'm completely strap for money and can't afford to go to the vet. If there's someone there to help me, please help. Boo doggy's loving mom

Go to the vet, tell them flat out that you don't have any money. They might work with you on a payment plan. Your dog needs to see a vet and soon!

My dog is 7 yrs old, and has the same symptoms you described, but other problems may be the cause. My dog has Hemorrhagic GastroEnteritis (HGE) Veterinary Q & A - Hemorrhagic GastroEnteritis (HGE) in Dogs . She has had it for about 5 yrs. It can be fatal if left untreated. Your dog does need to see a vet ASAP (if you have not already seen one). The web site has most of the details regarding the treatment, but I would like to share something my vet told me. Not all vets know how to treat HGE. Some have given the blood transfusions, which can be fatal We follow the same treatment listed on the web site. We only feed her Royal Canin Low Fat, which is prescription. I understand your funds are low, so maybe you could buy some just for when your dog is showing signs of the illness (if HGE is the problem), but you would need to find some OTC low fat dog food. Absolutely NO TABLE food (ever)! After your vet treats your dog, if this should happen again, do not feed your dog for 24 hours (water only). You can give white rice with a little fat free chicken broth (for a day or so). Our vet suggested giving prilosec every day. I was shocked at the advice since daily use is not normally recommended for people, but it really does make a difference. I’ve checked with other vets, and they said it’s OK. We use an off brand to save money. We give fat free cheese for treats, and cook can dog food to make dog cookies. Cut the can food up in small slices, and then bake at 350 (two cans for 30 minutes, or 4 cans for 40 minutes). It smells bad while baking, but it’s worth the trouble. Good luck with your pet!

I took my dog to the vet and turns out he only had a bacterial viris and is better now. He has a little diarrhea but he's eating and drinking water. The vet told me to boil chicken and steam some white rice and water, blend it in a food processor then add more water to it until runny and he lapped it up. He'll have to stay on it for about 2 weeks. So thanks for all the support out there. It helps...

Oh good! Aren't you glad you took him? So did the vet work something out with you as far as payments?

No the vet didn't, but the girl whom is like a nurse for the animals took me aside and told me what to use and do for my dog because I had no money besides the office visit and I had to scrounge that up. Thank You again.
