Dryer suddenly no heat, but runs?
I have a Kenmore series 60 dryer that tumbles but there's no heat. This happened very suddenly, between loads, and was not progressive; the dryer was working beautifully the load before. Is it possible it is the breaker and not the dryer? I have very little money (single mother of three) and don't want to buy any unnecessary parts. I will have to repair this myself so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The dryer is hooked up to 2-30amp breakers. It is a newer panel and the breaker has never tripped in the past. This dryer has been hooked up to it for over a year without a problem. I have never replaced a breaker but I am very handy with the right instructions.

Agalliah - As much as I hate to say ,NO matter which way you look at it you are going to have to pay ouit some money . HERE ARE A LIST OF PROABLE CAUSES< #1-Clloged lint screen. Or the vent pipe going out threw the wall , or the vent cover could have frozen flaps :: #2 Fulty thermostat ;; #3 defective timer,:: #4- Faulty overheat protector .:: #5- DEfective switch ;; I can tell you how to go about testing each one , but you will need a VOLT OHN meter to do it with, I think that you will find the heating element has a coil burnt in to . A lot of people don't know it but you can just buy the new coil it self and save quite a bit , That's the way I used to do all the time and save my cioustmers some money, it don't take but a few minuts to re wire the heater Let me know and tomorrow night ill check and if you have a meter one that you can check 220 volts with , THEN I WILL TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE IT ALL OUT STEP BY STEP FOR EACH ITEM . HAve a good day and C GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.

This maybe something you can repair if you are a fix it type. I've put in two heating elements and as a divirced mom myself, the $25.00 the element cost was affordable.
You have to take off the back of the dryer (most likely the back). Figure out what the element is. It is what produces the heat. You need the proper (model #) new
Element for your dryer. Call an appliance parts place. The element is a long item that
Kind of just plugs in, kind of like a light bulb... but that means a lot of screws to take off and on and the old one taken out. Elements need to be handled w/ care like a light bulb.
    Good luck
