Hi,

I hope someone here can help me. Right now I'm in a 40-foot trailer and I was using the vacuum cleaner when I apparently overloaded the circuit. It would appear the breaker didn't trip. I got a brown-out and I ran outside and unplugged where the power comes into the trailer.

The set-up is this: There is a heavy-duty plug that plugs into the side of the trailer. Then there is a circuit box that looks like it's using two of the four breakers in it. I'm not getting ANY power to anything! Not only on the circuit that was compromised but on the other circuit too.

I have checked the voltage on the hot wires leading into the circuit box and got 240 v. I also put the probes on each hot wire and the neutral bar and got 120 v each. So it appears that the power is coming into the box okay. Then I put the probes on each breaker terminal and the ground and got readings of 203 and 39 respectively!?

I don't know what the heck is going on. Can someone tell me the next steps to take?

The neutral wire is broke. These two circuits should be in one cable with one white neutral wire.If so, there is a loose connection someplace in the circuit. No way anyone here can tell exactly, all you can do is follow the cable and check each connection in each junction box or receptacle looking for the loose connection. Be sure to power these circuits off, as some outlets or lights may see the 203 volts and be seriously damaged, possibly cause a fire.

So, keep those breakers off until the problem is found.
