Scolding water, then Water Heater shuts down.
Our Water heater is 4 years old. Always worked fine. It is a P6662ORT2 Model. Ser # AO4326963. Last week the shower water became scolding hot---then the unit shut down. The Manual said to hit the red button behind upper access panel to reset unit. We did---and same thing happened. Scolding water----then it shuts off again because the temperature of the water is so high. The thermostat has never been touched----and is set to the lowest setting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Your thermostats are malfunctioning. Replace both the upper amd lower thermostats. Shut the power off at the breaker bvox and replace wire for wire. Good luck, Tom

    Hi Matt:

And if you forget how to wire the thermostats... here is a picture that should help.. if needed... ;)

Your setup should be exactly like the picture on the left (dual - upper/lower themostats).

    Good luck...
