Wiring a thermostat to 2 base board heaters
I am trying to find out how to wire a thermostat to control 2 baseboard heaters. The thermostat is a 2 pole with 2 red and 2 black wires. The heaters are 240v and 1350 watts each. The power is connected to a double 30 amp breaker, as per manufacturer, and is routed through the thermostat junction box. I have sperate feeds going from this junction to each heater.

How should this connection be made? The manufacturer's diagram was not very helpful.

    Try this, see attachment.

You, of course, since you are using a 30 amp breaker, all the wiring is #10 copper?

    Why 30 amp circuit?

2 heaters at 1350 watts totals 2700 watts and at 240 volts only draws 11.25 amps, and minimum circuit size can be a 15 amp circuit breaker and #14 wire.

Thanks for the wiring diagram, it was helpful. I did have everything hoked up correctly but had a loose wire arcing within the wire nut. It msut have come loose when mounting the heater to the wall. The 30 amp is overkill but I plan on adding on a large walk in closet and dressing room. This will require 1 if not 2 more heaters depending on the final layout and what else my wife decides to change.

Thanks again for the info, definitely reassuring.
