    Pot lighting
    Hi...

Can someone tell me, is it safe to install pot lights in a bulk head I built over the sink in the wash room. From the existing ceiling I created a box (7' across , 12" high x 8" deep) this is finished with drywall. I would like to insert 3 pot lights inside this empty space.

    Thanks

    Luc

These fixtures have been installed in soffits as you describe with no problems.

All recess fixtures now have thermal protectors built in if the fixture gets too hot. This will happen if too large a bulb is used.

You should not have any problems.

I am putting up a drywall ceiling in my basement. The support beams are 2by10. The top hat is about 8" above the drywall. On the directions it says leave 3" of space above the tophat for the heat buildup. I only have an inch and a half or two at the most. Can I still do it?
