    How to deal?
    Recently things have not been going too well.

    My mother was just sent to jail, and I had to move back in with my dad. We don't get along too well either...

    I have been making an effort in school but my grades still are down the drain.
    The only way I know how to deal is through s.h

    What is a better way to deal??

    You need to seek out counseling, start with your school. This is not something you can handle by yourself.

    I bet you do, but you can find support here, but it's not enough support to help you handle this situation. You have a lot apparently going on in your life you need someone there to help talk to you, support you, find alternatives to the counsel you are giving yourself. Without these things it's not a problem you can overcome alone. Your school counselor would be your best bet because it doesn't sound like you trust your father. Good luck to you, check around online you may find some online support groups for "cutters".

    Can you support yourself financially? Can you live separately from your dad? What is most important thing in your life now: to have good grades or to get well with your dad? Your relationship with dad and others influence negatively your grades: Your memory, concentration goes down due to stress and depression and if you try to help your grades it basically will be impossible as you do not get any emotional support from him but just the opposite. Counseling needs money and is expensive. So it's a closed circle.
    So you need to get one of the either: either to move out of the house and live independently or close yourself up, ignore your dad's tantrums, be as good as he wants you to be and do things he wants you to do for him to treat you as you want to be treated ( I personally don't think it will be possible, as he will may never be satisfied,- some parents simply do not know how to treat the child right and is not their fault it's the way they were brought up by their parents-no family life understanding and his child needs were not met either so his himself got the problems). Basically only one option is left- move out of your dad's home, find a job, save some money as time goes by and start your studies again..
    You are not the one living such life but you have to get grip of it and be in control- if you understand that the situation is bad, change it.
