    Laptop puts " instead of @
    Hi I have just had to reinstall my laptop with xp. The problem I have is that the keyboard uses the american shift and 2 for the @ sign and the normal @sign gives me "

    I have tried to change in keyboard .in control panel. But to no efffect . Am I missing something here. And thanks a lot if you can answer this

    Check your keyboard mappings as you are set for the wrong country.

    Start > Control panel > Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options > Regional and Language Options.

    I have tried that but it does not change the input . Do I need a new driver for the dell .

    Make sure the EVERYTHING is set to the correct country for your keyboard.
    Normally this problem is seen with an English keyboard on American settings.

    Have now sorted it . Had to change input lanquage. Sorry about not understanding. But it was not easy to see as it is in small writing. I was set to input lanquage usa not uk. Thanks again
