    Wire size
    Hello there I have 200 amp service in my house I would like to run a 100 amp service in my garage my questions are what type of wire would I need and how deep of a trench would I need to dig and by the way I live in Canada.

    Well how far are you needing to run the wire>? Is the garage attached to the house or freestanding?I recently finished the same project, and I used #2 for my run. Depending on if it is attached, You will need to run 2 hots, 1 Nuetral, 1 equipment Gnd out to the garage for this venture. At the garage panel, you will have to separate the Gnd and Nuetral busses. (again depending if it is attached to the house or not). You will need a Gnd rod, as well. Again though, some of this depends on if it is attached to the house or freestanding
