Wire connections from t-stat (white rodgers) to rheem heatpump 2-ton
I just installed a rheem 2 ton heat pump. I bought a white rodgers t-stat to run the heat pump. On the t-stat there are as follows top row of wire connectors c- common, l-? w-2-2nd stage heat, e-emergency heat, 2nd row r- 24volt hot, g-fan, o/b-reversing valve? Then y-cooling. This is a package unit I know generally are is red 24 volt ,g is green fan ,w is heat and why is cool. On the white rodgers t-stat w2 and e has a jumper. I have tried many times to wire the t stat correctly but each time I try I can only get the fan to work when I swich the fan to on instead of auto. Never comes on in heat or cool when switched to desired position. I removed the tstat and wire nutted the y,w,blu,&green wires together then touched the red 24 v hot to them the heater works great the same in cool mode but can't get to work w/t-stat is the t-stat bad? Please tell me how to wire this up correctly.

If you have a multimeter and wire just power to the tstat, does it output the proper voltage to the correct terminals in cool or heat mode? If not you may have a bad tstat or it is not configured right.
