    Open Neutral-HUM on TV
I had my bathroom renovated. When you turn the lights on in the bathroom the TV in the living room hums. I checked the gfi in the bathroom and the tester reveals an open neutral. But it is the lights being turned on that makes my TV in the living room hum, It does not hum when the lights in the bathroom are turned off using the single wall switch.

I installed those new spiral gas light bulbs in the recessed fixtures. What is the problem here?
An open ground ,or the energy efficient bulb, or the open neutral making my TV hum in the living room? Thanks

Since a tester is indicating an open neutral, then it must be the issue. An open neutral will cause an electrical system to do funky things, such as seek a return through other devices as a series circuit, for example. Ground loops can be created, which sounds like what the TV is experiencing.

Get the open neutral repaired, and all should be fine.

Who did the reno in the bathroom? Did you hire an electrical contractor? Best to have him come back and repair this issue under warranty.
