    Pain in shoulders
For the past year I have been having a shooting pain in my shoulders off and on. It occurs most often in the wintertime due to the cold weather, and when I do something to bring it on i.e. streneous activities. But sometimes it seems to come on randomly, or over something little like getting an injection in my arm or carring my purse. I am not very good at describing pain, but it seems to be both dull and sharp at the same time if that makes any sense. It seems to start in my shoulder, and shoot down my arm, linguring in the front and back of shoulder, wrist, and thumb. When I am having this problem it hurts to reach in any direction, carry weight, pretty much anything really.
It can be in either shoulder, or both. Lately it has been in both, but mostly the right one. This was brought on by having to lift and reach over my head for 8 hours straight two days this week at work.
When I got the injection in my arm, and had the pain, the nurse asked me what was wrong, and I told her I was having problems with my shoulder. She said if she would have known she could have done the other arm, and I explained that the pain seems to move. She then said it sounds like more of a back problem than a shoulder problem. I have had back problems over the last few years.
I have tried many things to mask the pain including IBProfen, Heat, and Aspercream, non of which had any effect. Once it's there, its there-no way to sooth it.
Does anyone have any ideas based on this information, what could be causing the pain, and ways to treat it?

Why don't you go to a chiropractor and get a good back assessment, and set up a daily schedule of walking.

If you are overweight, tackle that problem with a change in food plan... lose weight slowly.

I'm not overweight, and I think I get plenty of exorcize... but maybe not lol. I made an appointment with my family doctor today, who will probably refer me to a specialist

Go to a Chiropractor, they can adjust you and fix you right up.

I have had several problems with my shoulders and had several surgeries on them. It sounds like its in your ac joint. And MRI is the only way to find out. Shoulder pain is awful and I definitely sympathize with you. I would listen to your doc and maybe go to an orthopedist..

    Best of luck

So I went to the doctor and they said they think I have Bursitis. Put me on anti inflammatories, and I'm supposed to go get xrayed. They didn't say anything about treating it, I looked it up online and apparently they drain the inflammed fluid with an needle. Ouch. Guess we'll see how this goes

I agree with the chiropractor option!
