Transferring probation to CT--denied pending investigation
I was recently released after serving almost 3 months --no other prior legal run ins, a clean background (except traffic tickets) My husband and children & I decided to move to CT (where we both grew up) prior to my incarceration, however he didn't find a home till a month before my release. Long story short--he moved with the kids (4 of them) got a job, enrolled the kids in school etc. My PO applied to switch my probation and CT denied it pending an investigation. So I've been out for 5 weeks and have been unable to enter the state that my family lives in; no school teacher meetings, no meeting my kids doctors, no family stuff--and to make things worse I am allowed into MA--just literally 4-5 miles from where my hubby & kids are (they're on the border) having to stay at a hotel.

To my knowledge CT hasn't started their investigation and my PO says she's emailed the interstate office but hubby hasn't heard anything yet from CT. The sentencing judge denied my request to defer my probation and his words were that if I had to be homeless then so be it (since I have no family in the original state.) It's been a terrible road and I truly just want to be with my family. I'm not a violent offender, just a Mama who wants to snuggle my babies. Any ideas on who I can call or contact?

    Much appreciation!

A lawyer comes to mind, who will follow up with pressure if possible.

Thank you Fr Chuck. I will check into that but the hotel & expenses have far exceeded what we had to "spare" but if it'll help perhaps I can figure something out. In the meantime if you can spare some prayers I'd greatly appreciate it!

    Hello twins:

If your PO is OK with it, you can get travel documents that will allow you to snuggle your babies, and get a job. You'll also be able to contact the agency in your new state and help the transfer along. It doesn't hurt for you to stick your nose into the process.

Thanks excon but it's not that easy. Per the CT compact rules ( I guess) I cannot step foot into CT since they officially said "declined pending investigation." PO said that if she had sent the package and hadn't heard from CT then she'd have been able to give me a traveling pass (30 days) to CT, but since they officially said no I cannot enter the state at all while they investigate or I will get denied. So I'm on my 2nd (and last) 30 day travel pass but it only allows me to go to NH/VT/MA, the closest place (hotel) being about 5 miles away (in MA) I would like to make some calls but at the same time I don't want to upset anyone and have them deny my request. Uggh, what a mess! Especially worse because the judge won't defer my probation in the other state and knows I'll be homeless if I can't move.
