I have been in and out of court with my sons grandmother. There was a court order that allowed her visitations with my son that I did not consent to. I was not present at court due to not knowing about it. If I do not let my sons grandmother see him this Sunday I will be in violation. What are the penalties of violating a court order like this?

Depending on where you live you could face jail time as well as possibly face losing custody.

Yes, if you don't, they file a motion to hold you in contempt, the court can fine you, or place you in jail till you comply with the order.

If your state allows grandparents rights ( and it is obvoius they do) they will get some visits, unless you can prove they are a danger to the child, and even then they will get a supervised visit.

I guess why don't you want them to visit

You would be in contempt and face the same penalties as anyone else in contempt of court. So you might get a warning the first time but after that more severe even jail time and it is possible to loose cutody (as mentioned above) I would you suggest you follow the court order.
