I have not been able to see my two Grandchildren for seven months. Ages 6 and 9 years old. I am heart broken. What do I do, or how do I go about legally seeing them? Thank You, Rita

I have 2 Grandchildren that I want to see very much, but my Daughter does not speak to me for reasons that I am still trying to figure out. In the meantime she is using my Grandchildren as her weapon. They are 6 and 9 years old.. I miss them so much its breaking my heart. Its been over seven months that I have not seen them. I am allowed to speak with them on the phone once a week, but I want so much to hug them and see them.. Do I have any rights? Rita

First it is not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's thread. This tends to cause confusion. You should start a new thread for your question. That's why this has been moved to its own thread. Nor should you post the same issue as a response in multiple threads. I've also combined your other post here.

You don't say WHY you haven't seen them.We need to know more about the circumstances. But, if you want to try and force visitation, you need to file a petititon in Family Court. Whether you have any rights depends on where you live. Some states have acknowledged grandparents rights, some haven't. Your best bet is to consult with a Family Law attorney who can advise you what rights you have and how to proceed.

What state do you live in? Some states don't have grandparents rights. The grandparent must see their grandchildren through the children's parents. You stated that you fought with your daughter, what about the children's father? Is he still in the picture? Have you tried to patch things with your daughter?

There are may things a grandparent can do to let their grandchildren know they are missed and loved even if they can't see them. Maybe send them a card in the mail or a small gift. Actions speak louder that words maybe your daughter will see that.
