My son is 14 month old still he breastfeed, his birth weight is 4.5 kg, after 6 month of delivery I diaognised hypothyroid,doctor suggest me thyroxin tablet(100mcg) one perday,can anybody answer my following question,I will be grateful to them
1 will my child affect by my medication
2 will this dieasea transfoerm from me to my child through breastfeeding
3 I don't know when this happend(hypothyrodism) to me whether during pregnancy or after,how to know about that
4 what are the chances of getting this dieasea in my son?

1) Thyroxine is one of the safest meds to use for hypothyroid while breastfeeding... any amount that may transfer to baby will be very small and you needn't be worried that it may effect your child.
2) You won't directly transmit a hypothyroid issue to your child, but there are some forms that are due to genetics... so, it is possible one day your child may develop it. Many people have thyroid issues and don't even know it as many times it is something that goes unnoticed.
3) It may have gotten it's start in pregnancy, there is a predisposition for some women to develop thyroid issues due to the changing hormones. Although not always, this form sometimes clears up on its own. There are various reasons someone, pregnant or not, may develop hypothyroidism.
4) Chance of your son developing a hypothyroid will depend on the reason for your's. Often, unless your doctor can determine the cause, there is no way to know for sure. Did you by chance have gestational diabetes during your pregnancy? Have your glucose levels been checked?

Thanks for your guidance, no diabetes was not there during my pregnancy,my glucose level was also checked , but I had high blood pressure during last two month of my pregnancu ,docotr suggest me not to take sault in my diet
