    Problems after Tubal Ligation
I know that the best answer to any medical condition is to see your doctor. What I am looking for here is a common ground with anyone else suffering from the same issue. I am the mother of 2 children of which resulted 2 pregnancies. When my second child was 5 I decided that I was done and weighed my options for birth control. Now because I also have lupus I considered my options very carefully. One of the worst things you can do as a lupus sufferer is put anything foreign in your body. So decided that I needed to stop taking the birth control pills and take the surgical approach. I talked it over in length with my doctor and she really didn't have anything negative to say about a tubal ligation. She said that in some cases women's periods get slightly heavier and the cramping gets a little worse but other than that no major problems. I did do some research on the internet and didn't really find anything that said absolutely do not do this. It has now been 4 years since my tubal and let me tell you that the last 3 of it have been horrible. First of all, my periods are so unbelievably heavy that I will often soak through a super absorbency tampon about every 20 to 30 minutes and have to wear a pad as well the first couple days. The cramping is so severe that it feels like the beginning and middle stages of labor often leaving me bed ridden for several hours a day. Ibuprofen does nothing for the pain. In addition to that, as if that were not bad enough, I get severe headaches for a couple days before and during my period. I get so moody for about a week before that I feel so mean I can't even stand myself. I have also started to prespire more than I ever have in my whole life. I have even tried prescription strength deoderant and that does not help. My joint pain has doubled, especially during my period. I often have bleeding between periods as well and its bright red. I have contacted my doctor several times in the past few years and each time she has checked me out to make sure there is not an underlying issue and each time tells me there is nothing wrong. I have done some research and have narrowed most of my symptoms down to what could be endometriosis. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to have surgery. Which I can not afford that expense right now as my insurance won't cover 100%. I have found that there are several women who are suffering the same symptoms after a tubal and are being told the same things by their doctors, that there is nothing wrong with them. Does it sound like there is nothing wrong?? I think not. Do any of you women suffer from this? What do I do. My surgery is not reversible, because believe me that was a consideration of mine. My doctor, cut and burned so I can not have it reversed. I need to know if there is hope? :(

First off, go to another dr and see what they say. Then go to another dr. until someone finds out what is wrong. I had a tubal after 3 kids and 2 miscarriages. Immediately after the surgery I had MAJOR abdominal pain, turns out I have ovarian cancer (dysgerminoma of the left ovary). So PLEASE get a second and third opinion. I had to go to 4 dr. before they found it.

Good luck. Try pamprin and extra strength tylenol mixed (one of each every four to six hours) it worked for me. :p

Oh my god that is horrible!! I am so sorry that happened to you. I guess that is what I should do, I know it really I do. Its just frustrating. Its weird too because on Monday I started bleeding. I just had my period 2 weeks ago. Its bright red blood too which always alarms me. Its just so disheartening when you keep getting told, nothings wrong. I did have abnormal paps in the past, before the birth of my second child and had to have abnormal cells burned off my cervix, so that has always been a concern of mine. Thank you for your kind words and advice. Hope you are better as well.

Thank you. And please take care and don't give up until you get the answers you want. Keep in mind dr's have hundreds of patients complaining every day. It becomes robotic after a while. That is not an excuse however, but that is why I tell you to go to other dr.'s. I found that private practice specialists are the best. Look up OBGYN specialists and call. Usually those will work out a payment plan with you also.

Good luck to you, I hope everything turns out for the best. And keep us updated please!

I have has my tubes tied for ten years. Lately My periods stay on for about a week. I have been having blood clots, cramping severely on left side and can' hardly walk at times. Doctor discovered a small cyst. I would like to know will be better for me to get them untied. I feel fatigued a lot, to tired to do anything and don't be feeling good at all.
