    Slite rubbing noisy while turning
    Hello
Before I take the car in for a check up I need some inform on a item that comes up only while turning which is a slite rubbing sound . This sound only happens while turning in any direction and it does`nt have to be a sharp turn, it is not loud and sounds and is in sink with the wheels moving around and around.
I am fairly sure the nosiy is not the brakes due to the nosiy not being heard while driving straight also there is nothing in the wheel wells the rub.
I am thinking the ball joints and under carriage and steering is in need of some grease.
Please point me in the right area .

    Hi, vexation!

The sound that you're hearing, the causes of such, could be any number of things. Since you have mentioned sharp turns as compared to just turning in general, the first thing that comes to mind, to me, is power steering fluid. So, it might be wise to check and see about the amount of power steering fluid that you have.

Hopefully, others will also come along to address your question.

    Thanks!

This sounds like tires. Sidewall flex. Goodyear tires were famous for this.
Try pumping up the pressures to 40psi and test drive at parking lot speeds. Sometimes when tire dressings are used with petroleum distillates, they will leave cracks in the sidewalls.

    Hello
I did think of the power steering fuild but the sound is different than that of an older car I had with a small leak . Again the rubbing sound is in sink with the tires going around as am turning does`nt have to be a sharp turn. The tires are only 2 years old from Japan
Still not sure people - thanks I will check both tires and fuild as I said I do not want a mechanic checking for all his ideas and charging me large $$

Well, what did the experts say it was? Did you get it checked yet?
BTW, I'm one of 'those' mechanics, but I do more for free than jobs that pay anything. <sigh>
Going for a ride and listening to customer's concerns is just part of the job. But wouldn't you want a professional opinion?
    Especially a safety item?

Thanks for getting back with us. Most don't appreciate the time we take out of our days to help others.
    Glad to hear it's fixed.
