    Hi, Eric!

    It's my understanding that monetary gifts to people in the United States are not considered income for tax purposes by the people who receive them. However, how much you give may be an issue in the country where you are living in terms of how you will file your taxes.

    What is the country where you are located, please?

    Your question would also probably have a much better home and receive the attention of some of our tax experts here if it is located in the Taxes topic area of this site. As such, I'm going to request that it be moved to that topic area.
