My first payments for childsupport cover which dates?
I filed for child support in May 08. He has an appointment of OBligation what ever that means on October 20th. Does that mean he'll start paying child support from October on or will he have to pay for the months when I filed?

What State? I've seen it work both ways, awarded as of the filing date, awarded 30 days later (haven given the person a chance to pay support), awarded as of the hearing date.

And I agree - Appointment of Obligation is quite a mouthful!

We are in Georgia. (Dekalb county) I did not know what language to use to even Google the question. Their website has a lot of documents but most look like social worker docs. Not laymen docs.

It will be what is agreed on or ordered by the judge, GA normally in GA you should get ordered support from date of filing. Start payments paying current, and a payment to start making up back payments

FrChuck is in Georgia so he knows the Law there and that's exactly how I read it.

(I know - I found out today that one of the State sites for eviction is this side of impossible to read and understand. Have to wonder why these things aren't more user friendly - ?)
