Repair man said it was the water valve that was bad
I have a GE Artica side-by-side refrigerator. The water stopped supplying to the ice maker and the door water dispenser. I have replaced the mother board and now I'm being told it is the water valve. However, the part number I was given was not the right part. The part I need to replace has two water lines along with two plug ins. My question is how can I make sure that I am ordering the right part next time?

Teresa82411 - 90% of the time it ends up being the water valve to the ice maker, You can check up by the ice maker water inlet and see if it is FROZEN ( THE WATER THAT IS ) at this point if it is take a hair dryer and turn to med heat and stay away a few inches and melt any ice that is there , I have run across this a few times also,
So that you( DO NOT GET THE WRONG PART AGAIN ) , there should be a plate on the inside of fridge doorthat gives the serial number, model number ECT>ECT> also if you look on the water valve it self it should have the part number on it ( THE OLD VALVE) , you will find the water inlet valve on the bottom right side ( looking at the back of fridge). It will be back behind the back cover, You should be able to get this part from any plumbing store or from a good appliance store, Just be sure you carry the information I told you to get off the fridge. Another place to get it would be the dealer where you got the fridge, they may have to order it though ;; I hope that I have helped you, Let me know, Good luck and GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
