If you haven't had a child you shouldn't use Nuvaring. You can use the pill and the shot. And you should most definitely use a condom. If you are really against it, make sure your partner gets tested for STD's.

I just said that yes, you can use the shot or the pill. Go to your doctor and see which is more appropriate for YOU.

You know you are clean... but you can't be 100% certain about your partner. Many things can remain dormant for over 5-8 years before displaying symptoms. Like AIDS.

Yes and sadly many guys lie about past sex partners, also as in the pill you have to be on according to the instructions I believe for a full month before having sex.
And remember the pill or the condom is not 100 percent effective, even using both is not fully 100 percent effective.
So unless you are ready to maybe become pregnant you don't want to be doing it. But if you do, you should be using at least two forms, pill( shot) and condom

In response to your suggestion to a NuvaRing, I have a friend who is on it and I would not suggest it for you. The only reason she is on it is because she has stomach problems and the pills just made her stomach upset. You should go see a doctor and discuss options with him/her. You should go see one anyway if you are going to become sexually active. Also, I highly suggest using a condom. Like Chuck said, you need to be on the pill for a while before it starts to work. I think some are about a month, but I know that some can take up to 3 months. My biggest suggestion that I hope you follow is go to a gynecologist and talk to them. If money is an issue, look for a Planned Parenthood in your area.

The Pills Are Better, But Make Sure To Take At The Same Time Every Day... Without Missing One.

Get yourself set up on Birth Control Pills for a full month without having ses--take them according to direction.
You use a condom with the birth control to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
In addition, while engaging in foreplay, examine his penis for any open sores or lumps or warts, anything out of the ordinary... sexually transmitted diseases often last a lifetime and some cause eventual death, like AIDS.
