    Dual Citizenship for my Baby
I am a US citizen and my Husband is a legal resident with citizenship in France. I am 2 months pregnant and trying to find some answers about dual citizenship for our baby. Is it possible to have dual citizenship?
If it is not then I will probably be going to France to have our baby since there are more advantages to having the baby there. However, if the baby is born there I do not know what challenges we will have bringing the baby back to the USA. Since we live in California.
Any one out there have the same problems or maybe know the answer to my questions?

I think if you had your baby in France you would only have to show the birth certificate and your US passport at a US Consolate in France to obtain a US passport for your baby to return to the US.

France do recognize dual citizenship so it does not matter where the baby is born.

If the baby is born in US, he/she automatically obtains US citizenship. To obtain French citizenship, your husband must report birth of French citizen overseas at the French Embassy.

If the baby is born in France, he/she obtains French citizenship by place of birth and having a French parent. You, US citizen parent, must report birth of US citizen at the nearest US Embassy to obtain US citizenship. After that the baby can obtain US passport but have to wait for processing approx 4-6 weeks.

    Congratulations!
