    Ceiling Fan Installation
    Hi:
I just bought a Hampton Bay Ceiling fan with remore model # 507 386 UPC # 082392726089 from home depot. I am trying to install the receiver, any tips? I have tried putting it into the mounting plate and I can not get it to fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure which model this is.. . There's a specifc model many have problems with that has been posted about several times, there's a trick getting it to fit. The receiver fits in a U in the bracket, or the bracket fits in a U in the receiver, or something like that. I believe that model is the Mediterranean, is that your fan?

    BEKwig,

Were you able to install the Midili fan? I am considering the same model for my bedroom I but haven't found any reviews - just your post. Just wondering if were able to get it installed and if you are satisfyed with your purchase. Are the "2 Candelabra" bulbs sufficient lighting?

    Thanks,

    Ang

They emailed privately and were able to get it to fit.

Two candelabra bulbs are rarely sufficient lighting.

If you're smart you'll take the fan back if you can. Hampton Bay has receivers made by Rhine with weak capacitor design. Your lucky if you get a year or two out of it. Also, the warranty implies the motor only has a 25 year warranty.

    Good luck

Hampton Bay remote fans suck. No disagreement there.

The remote does not work and I think it needs to be 'paired', but I do not know how to do this.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. I am going to try and get a copy of the manual again or take someone else's advice and use a dimmer switch. Right now, I have no choice but to either leave the fan on with the light or have them both off completely. No exactly what I had in mind!

You can't use a dimmer switch. Does the fan have pullchains?

Did you look at the link I gave you above?

We took it back. Tried to fit the receiver into the bracket but it wouldn't fit with all the wires. Not worth the work. We figured we'd be SOL if we lost the remote anyway since that's how you change speeds. Getting one with pull chains instead.
