    Ceiling fan installation
We have a Hampton Bay Finley ceiling fan. We love the fan, but are not sure if it hangs too low from the ceiling. Do you know of a way to mount it flush with the ceiling instead of with the rod? Is there a different mounting kit we could purchase?

Most ceiling fans come with a short and long rod as well as instructions for mounting the fan directly to the ceiling. You may be able to eliminate the existing rod and mount the fan to the bracket that is under the cover at the top of the rod. Your best bet is probably to ask someone at your local hardware store.

Some fans can be mounted without the downrod, if there are holes in the bottom of the canopy and matching threaded screw holes on top of the motor. In both cases on this fan there would be a decorative cover over them. You can inspect and see if it can be mounted like this. From the looks of the website it doesn't have this feature but I don't know for sure.
