How do I have a good conversation with my boyfriend?
Me and my boyfriend have been dating on and off for 3 and a half year. Well the problme is that some time I can't find anything to talk to him about after I ask him how he's day was and how was work. Most of the time we just sit there. I just don't know what to talk about. Some time I just want to get inside his head and see what he is thinking about when we can't find any thing to talk about. So what should I talk about?

He's not thinking about anything. You are thinking non-stop. Guys are visual, not verbal like girls. That's just the way it is.
You have to have A LOT of things in common with a guy to make a go of it for 50 years. If you two don't have anything to talk about, what's the point? I've been married for 23 years, my wife and I yak-yak all the time. We have so much in common that has NOTHING to do with our feelings for each other... that's what you need. If it ain't there, knowing that NOW is a good thing. |

I was once in a relationship just like this. I would actually write down things to talk about before I called him. That's not normal. Neither is it normal to "not have something to talk about" when you're in a relationship. You just don't have much in common and may not be a compatible couple. Nothing wrong with that, just means you have the opportunity to date elsewhere. But, that's what dating is all about!

Sounds like you two just don't 'click.'
I would suggest taking a class together, or finding a common interest, but it would just be putting off the inevitable. Sooner or later you will figure out that you have nothing in common, and that the relationship is going nowhere. 3 and half years is a long relationship, so be proud of that. But it is time to move on now. I had a girlfriend that I could talk to for a few hours, then it would turn to talking about the weather, traffic, that 'small talk' stuff. I did have a good full day of conversation with her, but that was after she was on a month long vacation, lol. We realized it wasn't going to work, so we saw other people. How do you have a good conversation with your boyfriend? Find a boyfriend with the same interests as you, and one that you can relate to. |
