A new name is emerging into the front runner ranks as McCain's VP pick... Ohio's Rob Portman .
He is a former member of Congress as well as OMB director and US Trade Representative. He has solid conservative credentials and would bring with him a great understanding of the economy. He was on the short list of candidates for Treasury Sec. before President Bush selected Paulson for the position. Portman lives close to Dayton, Ohio where McCain is expected to announce his choice next Friday.
Also the speaking slots for the Republican convention have been announced and all the other names mentioned already have scheduled speeches.
