I cannot find the main DWV for my home to have the it snaked out. We are having sewage coming up through a floor drain and while we have looked outside it is not there.

Hello, you can look in the phone book and find a plumbing co. that does line locating to help you find the main sewer coming out of your home, they will run a cam/transmitter down a vent and use a locater to pinpoint where the sewerline is. Goodluck-----zeke

    Eholmes:

Look inside the home on the street side of the building... about 2 feet inside the home... that's where they are located in my area.

Otherwise, have the plumber pull the closest toilet and snake the main drain from there! Locating the cleanout via locator like Truck41 suggested is also never a bad idea!

Let us know what you think...

Both good answers to your problem. Let me add another. But first a question. Are you on city sewer or a septic tank? Our code mandates a clean out not over 18" out from the foundation of the slab and brought to grade. Over time this can get buried under a few inches of soil so we take a pointy rod called a probe and jab it around the area until we strike something metal. That's how we locate a house cleanout.
If we can't locate a cleanout we take our sewer machine up on the roof and snake from a bathroom roof vent. Pullimg a toilet and snaking from inside a bathroom is a last resort for us. It's a dirty messy business and pulling the cable back, with all its black grease and crap, can leave a housewife in tears when she sees the mess she is left to clean up. Of course most of our homes and single story houses here in Florida so it isn't too difficult to snake from the roof. Just thought I'd give you another option. Good luck, Tom
