    Faulty cpu
OK I have an old dell 2300. I played world of warcraft on it all the time. My fiancée pulled the cpu out and bent the pins. Well that wasn't the problem. I was wanting to upgrade cpu's anyway. Well it had a celeron in it. So I bought me a pentium 4 478 socket for it. But when I install it all I get is beeps.

Are you not supposed to change from celeron to pentium 4 or is there something else I need to do. Because if they don't work that way I want to get my money back and get one that will work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Look at phot below and make sure you have pin 1 in the proper position according to the photo
    http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...0/replac19.jpg

Here is the one that was shipped with your PC
Intel Pentium 4 that runs at 1.80 GHz internally and 400 MHz externally or
Intel Celeron that runs at 1.70 GHz internally and 400 MHz externally
So you would have to go with one of the above - there is no free support through Dell

If you still have your owners manuals, see if there is a section about upgrading processor
