    Airlock in system
I would appreciate help on the following :

I changed the immersion heater in hot water cylinder, having drained it first. Having turned back on all the valves, I now have hot water, as the cylinder has filled up, and water in taps in the kitchen, but I do not have cold water from the bathroom tap upstairs, nor does the bathroom WC cistern fill up.

I suspect an airlock but please advise the best way to overcome the problem

    Thank you

I suspect that there is a valve somewhere that was turned of for the repairs and not turned back on. Domestic water supply systems do not get air locks. If there is air in the pipes it just comes out the faucet (tap to you) when you first use it.

I think Harold is onto something with this... If not that a valve got shutoff and not reopened then most likely the aerator (see picture) to the bathroom tap is clogged and the cistern fill valve is also clogged. Happens more often then you might think!

To confirm this... remove the aerator by unscrewing it clockwise and then clean the aerator (run water full pressure without the aerator in place. If removing aerator fixed the bathroom tap then cistern fill valve will need to have water supply shut off to it and the fill valve will need to be disassembled to remove sediment from the valve itself.

Let us know what you find here and if you need help working on the cistern fill valve... ;)
