yadda, you need to slow down a bit.

Surgery - pain - drugs does not mean addiction
5 surgeries seems like there may be severe pain
So, let's ask what kind of surgeries?
About how far apart in time?
    And why?

Chronic illnesses and chronic pain will have depressive attributes. This does not necessarily mean depression. If you take a look at these symptoms and put it within the guise of "chronic pain", almost all of them fit, but it does not necessarilu mean the mental illness of depression.

    So, what's going on?

He shatered his heal 4yrs ago they have tried fusing it 3 times putting the screws in taking them out extremely painful but he's getting them the wrong way now he's not OK w/ out them I think maybe I shouldn't worry cause he's having his 5th surg this week and he will get them the right way again and he takes way to many at one time cause the don't work unless he takes 3 at least if he has more he will take up to 5 at a time I'm afraid he's going to cause major damage I'm hoping this is the last surgery and I'm afraid we are going to have alonger hard road ahead of us so can the give him valuims or somethig or a happy pill he says he don't want to get out a bed unless he has them because he hurts but also he speeds off them

You need to learn something about pain. In this situation, I believe, he really needs to take them regularly around the clock. Once pain starts, it's hard to get rid of. Stop it before it gets bad and the pain will stay suppressed and will be less.

If it's not working, then that is another problem. Too low of a dose. The wrong medication. Both need to be addressed by the doc.

Vicodin comes in different strenghts. It contains (Tylenol)(APAP)(Acetominophin) and too much tylenol causes liver damage.
It's probably a good medication for that.
