    Promise ring
My boyfriend just gave me a promise ring.. what is a promise ring exactly? Its not the same as an engagement ring is it? Isn't it a promise that u will engage? If it is does that mean usually he would give me an accual engagement ring? How much does it cost usually? What's the cheepest and the most expensive someone would spend on one? Please help me as much as u can.

Usaualy it is a promise that someday you will be engaged. Equivalent to going steady with a piece of jewlery added. How old are you?

You can get a ring just anywhere at any price but it's the thought that counts regardless if it's a diamond ring or a loaf bread sealer.

There's no ethiquette or a rule how much the guy will spend on a ring. It depends of course on the generousity and financial capacity of a person. If your Bf works McDonald's, will he insist to buy a diamond ring?

I would not be so concerned about how much he paid. Do you love him, do you want to get engaged?

Lol OK thank you. Haha nice with the loaf bread sealer. Thanks again. Is there usually a typical karot that promise rings are? Are they usually gold or silver? How much do u think is too much?

I do want to get engaged but he's not the most financially stable person and I just don't want to find out he spent too much.

Too late now. Whatever he spent he could afford. If you feel uncomfortable with what he may have paid you can reeturn it

why dont you bring it to appraiser so you can check out yourself? It depends on quality, cut and clarity if its diamond. I dotn know for silver and gold but Im sure it has some standards too.

My finacee paid like 150 for my promise ring.. it was just a simple ring.. most of them are not really expensive, I was dating mine for 7 months when he gave it to me.. with the promise to be engaged.. that's all a promise ring is.. the promise that one day you will be engaged.. I really wouldn't worry how much he spent on it, it is the thought that counts..
