    Early pregnancy questions
We have been trying to get pregnant and finally this month I got a positive result. I really have an irregular cycle so we didn't know when to try and whatever but we tried a lot if you know what I mean. My last period was on June 27 and I took the test on July 24 because I don't really know when to expect my period but I just felt like I should test. Well I got a positive and to be sure I did it right I took another like 7 hours later and another positive. Now by calculations I should be 4 weeks pregnant but the only symptom I feel is that I've had very light cramping on and off for the week and a half. It's not painful but noticeable. Everything I have read has said that that is normal due to the uterus stretching. But I have no other symptoms... Does this sound normal? And another thing, my dr won't see me until I am 12 weeks. I have an ultra sounds at 8 though and I am worried and it's my first so I have so many questions (obviously). I need help!

It seems as though congrats are in order!!

Now, understand that not all women get pregnancy symptoms. Many doctors will not see patients until 12 weeks, so that is not unusual.

Right now, be sure to take your prenatal vitamins, eat healthy get rest, and take care of yourself.

I've had 4 kids. When I first get pregnant I have light cramping as well. It's totally normal. Just be sure to take it easy for the first 3 months as those are the months typical to miscarry. Don't lift heavy objects, get lots of rest, take your vitamins, and don't stress. Practice deep breathing and maybe yoga. Every woman is different, and you will experience new sensations every step of the way. Enjoy it, and thank God for the opportunity you now have to carry life!

Thanks! That is another thing. I am really worried about losing the baby. I mean I'm not doing anything that I think will cause that but I've heard it's common. My mom says me worrying about it doesn't make it better. AND speaking of stress. I have been really moody and irritable, which I know is probably normal, but my husband is freaking out and making it worse by arguing back or whatever. So that equals stress when we are arguing. ANy suggestions?

When you are not in an irritable mood, have a talk together about the changes that occur in pregnancy. Being irritable, and often not really have any particular reason for it, is not uncommon. It's not fun, but it is normal due to tremendous hormone shifts. It effects women differently and some are just more sensitive to the changes.
Hopefully you will be better able to recognize when you are starting to feel that way and let him know you just need to be left alone or you can go for a walk, a drive, whatever... and hopefully he will be able to not take anything personally and make it worse by calling you on it. While it may be normal, it obviously can be handled well to avoid undue stress and hurt feelings until things get better... which they will... :)
Taking good care of yourself is all you can do to help insure things go well, so focus on ways you can do that... eat well, get some regular exercise, etc..

Most women get very irritable during the first 13 weeks of pregnancy. It is due to the increase in hormones, that peaks at about 7 weeks of pregnancy, and stops about 13 weeks gestation. Husband needs to know that your irritability is from being pregnant. Minor cramping happens to many women, sometimes it is from implantation. I found that women who had cramping and bleeding together did not fare well, but in your case, with only cramping, you are okay. If you are worried, ask your doctor for an earlier appointment than 12 weeks. I do not believe obstetricians should tell women not to be seen until 12 weeks pregnant as an ectopic pregnancy or other problems can be missed. Find an ob who will work with you, not all obs tell their patients to wait. Ob/gyn retired
