Are you still taking the shot? Once you stop the shot you should be able to get pregnant 1, 2, 3. You should check with your doctor.

This is actually incorrect advice. When we are discussing DepoProvera with our patients, we tell them that this is a long term, long acting birth control. Even after one injection it can take up to 18 months to become pregnant.

So, the question is, how long ago was your last injection? And how long ago was the abortion?

First off, I went by what MY doctor said to me. AND I DID get pregnant within 2 weeks after I came off the shot with twins. So it wasn't that I was giving bad advice, I was going by my past experience. And for future reference, I will state according to advice given to me from my gyno.

No reason to be so nasty. It's just that you are the exception to the rule, just is a gal who I graduated with that got pregnant while on the depo shot.

You have every right to take advice given from your gyno... I am a gyno/ob nurse, so what the doctor doesn't tell the patient, it is my responsibility to do so. So, I am a little educated in this area.

I still stand behind my earlier answer. Prior to giving my girls the depo shot, I discuss with her her intents for pregnancy in the near future. If she wants another child within a 2 year period, we suggest alternative methods of birth control instead of depo provera.

I have to apoligize to you if it appeared that I got nasty. I don't like to give advice but I thought it would be OK if she heard what my doctor told me. But your doing your thing too. I am happy that people have you to lean on for the correct advice.
