    Garnishment of Wages
Can an employer in Texas garnish wages for "alleged" theft of property of an employee even though the employer has not filed a theft report with a local police department?

Wages are exempt in Texas (except for child support) so they can't. And, no, your employer can't just take money out of your check for no reason.

Is it a "pay it back or we'll have you arrested?" deal?

I'm a little confused - the employer is taking money of employee's wages for theft of property of an employee? Obviously the employee isn't stealing from himself so a second employee is involved? Then the second employee is the one who can charge the first employee. I don't see that the employer has legal standing.
