I find this heart warming, but.
I am not into politics, seems I just don't know enough to sit around and discuss it. Not to say that I haven't learned a lot from all of your debates, I really have. But something comes to me when I say "Start, who are you going to vote for?" I don't even have an answer yet, although I am still not sure of either, maybe because I feel as if we are screwed either way.
What do you think of this article? Do you think we should be bias to vote for someone because of his wife's good deeds? Not to say that her good deeds are to be set aside, I would have rather seen this article be about him instead of her. I know he adopted a girl, I know his son is in the service, that's all good but they didn't really give him credit for all of this, they gave her mostly all the credit for all of it, I mean he is her husband, so what she does, he does right? Or wrong?

    Cindy McCain--this will surprise you

This is an example all of us should follow. We need to be more hands on than just using our mouth/

This is an interesting article as not much was known about her. She was on Leno the other night and it was an interesting interview. It turns out that she is a character as she is or has been a race car driver and is also a pilot. She flies John around the country to his rallies. After hearing that about her and reading this I now have a lot of respect for her.

Election 2008: Cindy Hensley McCain has been disparaged as a trophy wife, a Barbie, an heiress with fancy purses, even the Paris Hilton of politics. But there's more to the picture than meets the eye.

Yes, Mrs. McCain is the perfectly coifed blonde standing dutifully behind the senator during his speeches. And yes, she wears stylish clothing and carries a Prada purse. And it's true she doesn't say much. But feminist critics who write her off as a "stand-by-your-man" shrinking violet are selling her short. And she'd make a more imp ressive first lady.

Mrs. McCain: More than meets the eye.

While Obama's wife has been hating America, complaining about the war and undermining our troops serving in Afghanistan, McCain's wife has been worrying about her sons who actually are fighting or planning to fight in the war on terror. One, in fact, was until a few months ago deployed in Iraq during some of the worst violence.

You don't hear the McCain's talk about it, but their 19-year-old Marine, Jimmy, is preparing for his second tour of duty. Their 21-year-old son, Jack, is poised to graduate from Annapolis and also could join the Marines as a second lieutenant. The couple made the decision not to draw attention to their sons out of respect for other families with sons and daughters in harm's way.

Cindy also says she doesn't want to risk falling apart on the campaign trail talking about Jimmy who was so young when he enlisted she had to sign consent forms for his medical tests before he could report for duty and potentially upsetting parents of soldiers who are serving or ha ve been killed.

The McCain's want to make sure their boys get no special treatment. Same goes for their five other children, including a daughter they adopted from Bangladesh . During a visit to Mother Teresa's orphanage there, Cindy noticed a dying baby.. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life. So she brought the child home to America for the surgery she desperately needed. The baby is now their healthy, 16-year-old daughter, Bridget.

Though all seven McCain children including two Sen. McCain adopted from his first marriage are supportive of their father, they prefer their privacy to the glare of the campaign trail. Another daughter, Meghan, 23, helps him behind the scenes.

Cindy McCain not only cherishes her children, but also her country, which in an election year filled with America-bashing, is a refreshing novelty. She seethed when she heard Michelle Obama's unpatriotic remarks that she only recently grew proud of America . "I am very proud of my country," Mrs. McCain asserted.

She also may be tougher than the other women in the race. While Hillary thinks she's come under sniper fire on mission trips abroad, Cindy has actually seen violence. She witnessed a boy get blown up by a mine in Kuwait during a trip with an international group that removes land mines from war-torn countries.

Mrs. McCain also is a hands-on philanthropist. She sits on the board of Operation Smile, which arranges for plastic surgeons to fix cleft palates and other birth defects. She also has helped organize relief missions to Micronesia .

During a scuba-diving vacation to the islands, Mrs. McCain took a to a local hospital to have a cut treated. She was shocked, and saddened, by what she saw. "They opened the door to the OR, where the supplies were, and there were two cats and a whole bunch of rats climbing out of the sterile supplies," she recalled. "They had no X-ray machine, no beds. To me, it was devastating because it wa s a U.S. trust territory." As soon as she returned home, she arranged for medical equipment and teams of doctors to be sent to treat the island children.

Michelle Obama may contribute to CARE, which fights global poverty and works to empower poor women. Cindy sits on its board.

While the Democrat women talk about helping the poor and needy, Cindy McCain actually rolls up her sleeves and does it. Who's the out-of-touch elitist?

Very impressive, I have never heard one good thing about her.
The only thing I have heard/read was that she was a husband stealer.

I wish someone would post some info on M. Obama

I thought it was nice too. Almost someone that I would love to walk in her shoes. I love do-gooders! ;) But, we have to remember that they are together, he must have had some opinion or say in what she was/is doing, right? Is he really as bad as people say?

She was also a drug addict who stole drugs from a charity she directed and used them while mothering four young children.

McCain to his credit ;and fault I guess ,does little self promotion. It is up to his supporters to point out things like the selfless adoption he and Cindy did .

This is his daughter today .

You know, some people make mistakes. I have an opinion about perscription drugs, they are addictive just like any other drug, especially narcotics. NK, I am sure in your life time you have known someone who was addicted to something, did they ever come clean and work through it. It is written in that article that she has and still is for that matter. I didn't even pay much attention to it and by you only pointing out the bad, well, it puts a bad taste in my mouth about your character. There was so many good things in that article, NK... goll...

So do I. But do you not agree that she took responsibily by fighting that addiction?
I believe very much in the choices we have and make. That doesn't mean that we can't correct our mistakes. Or are we not allowed to make them in your eyes? Just because she is a public figure doesn't mean she isn't allowed to make mistakes. If it were your best friend would you have the same opinion, or would you just drop him/her at the drop of a hat cause he made a bad choice, I mean come on. I like you and some of your posts are right on. I just find you very negative in this one.

I suppose I can be negative too. I apologize. Just think if we can see the good in the bad that comes our way, learn from the mistakes we make. I know that sometimes it takes a push for us to change bad into good. I suppose she is thankful for being called out, huh?

But who cares really? They aren't running for office, although without her money neither would her husband. If I'm putting someone on a pedestal I'll choose the person that did not steal a husband, abuse and steal drugs. I'm just funny that way.

Weird huh? I never start 'em, just answer 'em.

Edit to add: that thread was pulled I believe because the poster basically called everyone 'stupid': the candidate and the candidate's supporters.

    It is not you .

Nk you did not start the smearing on this posting ? This was a positive one about Cindy McCain's charitible work and personal compassion and selflessness ;not about her addiction to pain killersthat came after spinal surgury .

The whole statement is intended to put Mrs Obama in a bad light.

It isn't smearing - did I call her stupid? Did I say that anyone who supports her is stupid?

NK, I was just Googling Michelle Obama, and I found nothing like this, if you could help with that, I would appreciate it. I agree, that statement could have been re worded. They could have left out the first part, still I suppose it is true as she has done some pretty terrific things, yes?
