    Bubbling in other bathroom
    Hi,

This morning I was getting out of the bathtub, and I opened the drain and the water was draining out and I started getting ready when I heard bubbling from the other side of the house. I ran to the other bathroom which is a guest bathroom and saw bubbling coming from the toilet and this isn't the first time I have heard noises from the toilets and sinks in our house which is 14 years old. We have 3 toilets but the only one that was bubbling was in the back of the house by the laundry room. I went back into our master bath and noticed the shower was backing up with water and the tub had the water still in it it never drained out and then I looked in the toilet area and there was water coming out onto the floor from the back of the toilet so we turned it off and there is not water coming out now. Then I noticed this smell like gas. I really got scared and called the city because I have heard about sewage backup nightmares. They came out and looked at the lines and said that it's not there problem and then they looked at our lines in front and couldn't see anything so they said it is probably coming from under the house. I only work parttime because I have a disability and I was really shaken up but american home shield covers backups so they are sending their repair people out tomorrow to see what's going on. Meanwhile I went back into the master bath and all the water has drained out and the smell is gone. Now I am really getting scared. I just thought that is was so unusual that the toilet would start bubbling while my bathtub in the master bath which is on the other side of the house was draining and I heard bubbling and then the toilet leaking it makes no sense it's like all these things going wrong at once, but now the water is gone and the smell is gone but I am afraid to run any water. My daughters bathroom toilet is flushing fine and I haven't noticed water bubbles but I have heard them in the past. What is going on under my house? Can you give me any details?

Sounds like you may have two issues going on. The bubbling toilet was trying to act as a vent so I suspect your vent stack to the roof needs rodding with a sewer rod. Rod from the roof to basement floor plus 15' more. The back up is the drain plugging and that needs rodding with a 1/2" snake at rthe master bath room. Remove the chrome plate from the tub overflow and rod down from there. Don't bother with rodding the toilet, you can't do it with a regular rod but need a toilet auger. I think the plug will be beyond the reach of a toilet auger so worst case you take up the toilet anduse the sewer rodder.
