I am writing in spite of a bubbling toilet. My husband and I just can’t get this one figured out! Our toilet has been bubbling for maybe close to a month now. So this past weekend we tried to fix the unknown problem. We have a city sewer system in case that helps you to help me. Anyhow, we discovered that our main sewer pipe cap had come off so we bought a new one of those and replaced it. Yet the problem is still there. He tried to snake the main sewer pipe and the toilet and even ripped up the toilet and snaked it but nothing worked. Three times this past weekend it overflowed but with just cold clean water, none of the sewer backage, just clean water. We tried to snake it with a small like 6 footer and also a larger 50 footer, both manual, and still nothing. The toilet flushes just fine but anytime the water drains from the washer, sink or shower it bubbles. We tried pouring Drain-O gel, boiling hot water, and also a septic overnight treatment down the toilet, shower and main sewer pipe and, again, still same problem. Any thoughts? We have just been trying to figure this one out ourselves because really, to be honest, a plumber just is an impossible option for us as we are financially stricken. Hopefully you can help…

If the sewer lines OK from the house to the street then you missed the clog.

How much cable was put out?
There is only one thing that causes bubbling and backups and that's a blockage in the drainage system. You've missed it. Rent a power sewer snake and open up the cleanout. Now send the snake down the lavatory roof vent and keep going until you see the tip go past the open clean out. Now pull out the cable and give the toilet a flush while watching the cleanout. You should see the discharge in a few seconds. Now cycle the washer and check the toilet for new bubbles. Good luck, Tom

What is the "clean out"?

Ok... Forgive my lack of knowledge but I don't know what the "clean out" is or where to find it as well as the lavatory roof vent. I believe that he used just about all the cable he could have. I'm at work right now while my husband is communicating with me the issues. He earlier tried to snake the toilet again with the larger 50ft. Snake before I received the earlier info and suggestions, then he did a load of laundry to test it. The toilet backed up again and he plunged it and now it flushes, however, the plot thickens as now the water is backing up in the bath tub.
